BIOGRAPHY
HILL COUNTRY REVUE is THE modern Southern Rock / Blues band for the new generation. Formed by Cody Dickinson from The North Mississippi Allstars in 2008, it features Chris Chew, Kirk Smithhart, Ed “Hot” Cleveland and Dixie Dan Coburn. The band’s debut album, ‘Make a Move’, was released by Razor and Tie Records in May 2009. “This is really back to the roots of blues,” says Cody of the upcoming record. “It's funky. Really nasty, that's the best way to describe it. Gritty, messy, stripped-down.” Hill Country Revue will tour the country up until the release of the record. For the summer of 2009 HCR will focus on festival and support slots. Fall 2009 will be comprised of a headlining national tour.
As part of the North Mississippi Allstars, Cody Dickinson has three Grammy nominated albums under his belt. He has shared the stage with artists as diverse as Kid Rock, Dave Matthews Band and Mavis Staples, and toured all over the world steadily since 1996, earning a legion of fans.
The majority of the material on ‘Make A Move’ was written by protégé Garry Burnside, the youngest of R.L. and Alice Mae Burnside’s fourteen children. Garry is a walking encyclopedia of Mississippi hill country blues. He grew up playing with Junior Kimbrough every Sunday night in Junior’s world-famous juke joint (where he met a young Cody Dickinson for the first time).
Kirk Smithhart was awarded The Albert King award for Best Guitarist by the Blues Foundation when he was only 19. Daniel Robert Coburn, born and raised in Flint MI, cut his teeth playing rock and hardcore. He formed Dixie Hustler in 2001 whose debut record was produced by Aaron Julison of Kid Rock and Cody Dickinson. “Hot” Cleveland grew up surrounded by the gospel music of Memphis and has recorded and toured with a number of lauded musicians including Olanda Draper, Shalamar, and Howard Hewitt.

Remembering The King of Rock & Roll, Elvis Presley |

Elvis Aaron Presley, in the humblest of circumstances, was born to Vernon and Gladys Presley in a two-room house in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935. His twin brother, Jessie Garon, was stillborn, leaving Elvis to grow up as an only child. He and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948, and Elvis graduated from Humes High School there in 1953.
Elvis musical influences were the pop and country music of the time, the gospel music he heard in church and at the all-night gospel sings he frequently attended, and the black R&B he absorbed on historic Beale Street as a Memphis teenager. In 1954, he began his singing career with the legendary Sun Records label in Memphis. In late 1955, his recording contract was sold to RCA Victor. By 1956, he was an international sensation. With a sound and style that uniquely combined his diverse musical influences and blurred and challenged the social and racial barriers of the time, he ushered in a whole new era of American music and popular culture.

Overview: What do you get when your major label debut goes platinum? Why the opportunity to record a second album, that’s what. Armed with the shiny, framed version of ‘Man Mows Lawn‘, excuse me, their eponymous debut, Trapt was studio bound again. Enter summer 2005, when Trapt’s new single “Stand Up” hit the airwaves, the first single from Warner Bros. album numero dos, entitled ‘Someone in Control‘. Its September 05 release date came and went unceremoniously, and despite the chart success of “Stand Up” and a heralded fall headlining tour, Trapt found themselves “disconnected” from their duties with Warner Bros. Records. So what does a band do now? Why they put out a live album, that’s what. And so Trapt recorded a set, added a couple of hot, brand new cuts for good measure, and won over Eleven Seven Records, who released the aptly titled ‘Trapt Live!‘ in September 2007. So what does Trapt do for an encore? Why they track an entire new record, that’s what. The band played tease for much of 2008, leaking bits and pieces of the album onto the interweb to get ‘em all salivating in anticipation. But the time has come to unveil the latest Trapt concoction, a brew they call ‘Only Through the Pain‘. Listen for first single “Who’s Going Home With You Tonight” on rock radio and catch the band on this summer’s Cruefest (but make sure your Hepatitis C vaccinations are up to date beforehand, of course).
